We were waiting for a festival manager to lecture on the recruitment policy for a Danish arts festival. The pianist paused, stood up on the stage and began his presentation. He was Esben Danielsen, head of development for the Roskilde Festival.
Volunteers make a city in a couple of weeks, run an arts festival for more than 100,000 participants, then take it all down again until the next year.
And now at a conference in Copenhagen again, six years later, is Hans Christian Nielsen, head of HR and Administration for the Roskilde Festival, describing how they use the Solution Focused (SF) approach in everything from employee appraisal interviews to strategy development and workplace evaluation.
I’m here to present a workshop on the connections between SF and Improvisation. So encouraging - and timely - to see how one of the world’s largest and most successful festivals has been a wonderful example of using both to such good effect.
